More than 2 billion tons of waste accumulated in the PFD as of late 2014.
This was announced by Head of the Department of Rosprirodnadzor for PFD Anatoly Shatalov at the enlarged meeting of the “Results of state environmental supervision in the Volga Federal District in 2014 and priorities for 2015″ on 26 January.
According to him, the exact amount of 2.4 billion tonnes of waste – for 2014 the amount of waste increased by 258 million tons. The percentage of utilization and disposal of waste is only 24.2%. He also noted that today the problem of waste management and elimination of accumulated environmental damage is a priority for 2015.
Summing up the last year, Anatoly Shatalov said that the year was held for more than six thousand scheduled and unscheduled inspections, carried out 915 raids and conducted more than a thousand administrative investigations. In addition, in 2014 the territorial bodies of natural resources RPN was charged 69 claims for compensation for damage caused to the environment, worth over 0.5 billion rubles. In general, the PFD in various courts was passed about two thousand cases.
“Among the priorities for the current year – continue to ensure conditions for the reduction of emissions into the environment, working with businesses to encourage the use of modern technologies, as well as addressing the elimination of accumulated environmental damage and illegal dumping of solid waste” – summed up the head of the department for RPN PFD.
As previously reported, about 600 illegal dumps were liquidated in Nizhny Novgorod in 2014. Total collected, removed and handed over to the range of the order of 71 thousand cubic meters of debris. Garbage collection was carried out at the expense of the city budget – financing amounted to 22 million rubles.
